HistoTechnology services
The HistoTechnology Facility provides
a comprehnsive list of services for students, scientists and academics
utilizing
histology, electron microscopy and immunolabeling
techniques in their research projects.
The Histology laboratory offers a full
range of paraffin and frozen sections, immunohistochemical labeling services
and
a wide variety of routine and special
stains. High resolution plastic sections as thin as 0.5µm are also
available for
small specimens or blocks of tissue.
The Electron Microscope Unit offers
a number of services including routine electron microscopy of tissue ultrastructure,
immunogold and immunoperoxidase processing
and labeling, semi and ultrathin sectioning, negative staining of
viral particles, standard and fluorecence
photomicrography and publication quality black and white photographic
printing.
Costs and turn-around
Staff will endeavour to return your completed
work within 3 to 6 working days, this will however depend on current
workloads. Requests for urgently needed
work will also be given due consideration.
All users are charged a fee dependent
on services required. Currently only UQ Pathology and Surgery Departments
and QIMR users recieve discount rates
based on consumables costs only.
Bench space is available free of charge
for persons wishing to do their own immunolabeling.
Training in the use of the JEOL electron
microscope and all routine techniques can be arranged
