The University of Queensland Rural Clinical School (RCS) was established on 1 January, 2002. It is part of the national rural education and training network funded through the Australian Government's Rural Health Strategy by the Department of Health and Ageing.

The RCD is committed to building a medical workforce for rural Australia, and thus enhancing the sustainability and viability of rural health care services.
